Rep. Ed Markey has just annnounced an “Emergency Town Meeting on the Bush Administration’s Program on Domestic Surveillance,” otherwise known as “Bush’s Illegal Spying program.”
The forum will be held In Lexington on Wednesday night, Jan. 4 at 7 p.m. at The National Heritage Museum, 33 Marrett Road, Lexington.
Markey’s website has more details (http://www.house.gov/markey/index.htm), including mention of at least two guests, to include Carol Ross of the Mass ACLU and Marc Rotenberg of the DC-based Electronic Privacy Information Center.
This should be a nice Mass-based warmup to January’s feature events in Washington: Alito’s explanation of his view on warrantless surveillance during his nomination hearings, to be followed by hearings on the NSA program itself.

I added it to the event calendar. In general, in addition to posting events like these, it’d be great if folks could add them to the calendar so that it’ll still be visible after the post scrolls away.

1.) Is there a technical support page? When I tried to log in as Abby, the password sent to my e-mail didn’t work. I reregistered as abbyv, but I’d kind of like to switch back to Abby. Sorry to burst onto the thread. If someone will direct me to the tech thread, I’ll go there post haste.

2.) Any chance that somebody might want to organize a carpool from the city? I’d like to go, but I’m without a car.

Abby – why don’t you email me (david -at- bluemassgroup dot com) and let me know what you want your user name and email to be – then I can manually reset the user account, do a temporary password that you can change later, and you’ll be all set.
