Patrick C. Guerriero, president of the national Log Cabin Republicans, a group of conservative gay political activists, in a recent interview with Gay City News: “Asked whose candidacy would concern him, Guerriero responded, ‘My job is work with all of them,’ before citing several problematic candidates, including Massachusettsâ Mitt Romney, a strident opponent of gay marriage in that state.” Probably music to the ears of Romney’s campaign staff.

This is only partly about gay marriage. Guerriero was Jane Swift’s pick for Lieutenant Governor before Mitt & Co. forced her out. Guerriero asked Mitt for his support, and Mitt told him to pound sand, but only because he hadn’t planned on endorsing anyone. Guerriero eventually withdrew and Romney eventually endorsed Kerry Healey for LG.

for Guerriero, who seems like a decent enough guy. I can’t imagine there’s a Republican interested in any major office in the United States that he wouldn’t find “problematic.” Why any gay Americans feel like the Republican party stands for them is utterly beyond me.
