Word is also that he will resign soon rather than serve out his term. He's also changing his state of residence to Virginia. All of which means that the Texas Republican party gets to name another Republican to run for the seat - recall that DeLay already won the Republican primary, so if he stayed in Texas but dropped out of the race the Democrats would automatically pick up the seat. Even in disgrace, he's gaming the system.

DeLay getting nailed for the stuff they’re nailing him for is like Al Capone getting nailed for income tax violations. The real harm DeLay caused was all legal (the redistricting being Exhibit A). (Maybe your “intimidation” falls within that category.) Don’t get me wrong – I’ll take it. But don’t lose sight of what he was really about.
