Recent email I sent to may Democratic affiliated organizations;
Why is the DNC spending so much time…..
Why is the Democratic National Committee spending so much time trying to make Florida follow rules that I find silly when they could be spending that time putting energy into fixing the actual voting issue itself.
It will not matter what rules they try and force people to follow if their vote is not counted or is illegally switched by some voting machine or hacked voting machine.
Please pay attention to the reality of the voter.
Most of us who pay attention to politics will pay attention. Those who won?t will just follow who they chose and vote when the time comes.
What does it matter that one state wishes to hold a presidential primary at a date different than it had in the past?
Please tell them to stop wasting their time and pay attention to the reality they the Democrats may lose the 2008 presidential election if they take their eye off the real problems like the integrity of our votes.
Thank you in advance.

I agree with you in principle, but I think the primary schedule should be locked years in advance. I don’t like this jockeying by Michigan and Florida.

That said, I think the New Hampshire first genie is out of the bottle, and I wouldn’t be surprised if 2008 is the last time New Hampshire goes first.

and that’s what Florida’s doing.

Worse yet, what California might do.

…can someone please tell me the last time the winner of the NH primaries went on to win, not only the nomination for president, but also the general election?

As far as I can tell, the NH primaries and the Iowa caucuses (another Schmarrn) are nothing more than hoopla to support local businesses.

As the saying goes, “No president [since someone — Hoover, maybe?] has won the election without first winning his party’s primary in New Hampshire.”

But they are in a slump. Clinton lost it in 1992, though he claimed victory by coming in second, and McCain upset Bush in 2000. In fact Gore’s victory there in 2000 was probably more narrow than it should have been, signalling trouble.
