A high degree of accomplishment, training or wisdom within a given field
Okay, interesting now to Dictionary dot com’s
Elitist ( noun) someone who believes in rule by an elite group
(That will shurely rate few comments)
To the Very Weird Elitist Jerks Which I believe Fox News may be channeling in their coverage of Bittergate
And finally this interesting diatribe
Elitist? Yes. But some things are simply better than others regarding Daniel Barenboim’s recordings of 32 Beethoven sonata’s.
For some reason this last reference makes me think about the what if, if Leonardo Da Vinci had been a Blogger.
There is of course the current flap discussed at length in other Diaries wherein the charges of Elitism Yes, Elitism no, Your an Elitist, I’m a progressive liberal, She’s an out of touch gun toten church goin anti immigrant force from the dark side, he’s a ranting sexist communist feminist, My candidate is still standing at 3:00 am after ten rounds of Boilermakers, my Blog’s bigger than your Blog, stand and sing all God’s Children are Bitter, Halleluiah, ( (Where’s the Cotton for my ears Note!! Skip the post and go down to the first comment thread to see how a discussion about the current democratic race gets way off track 🙂)
So I have to ask the question amidst all the hooten and holleren, On some level, aren’t we all elitists who post here? Ask your self that. What makes any of us think we have something more to offer than the average Joesephine?
So (if you checked out the Jeff Foxworthy website above to get the jist of this) how do you know if you’re an Elitist? (Recognizing I just painted the bulls eye square on me but have at it.)
To quote a famous American “Bring it on….”

p>My mentor in life, David Brudnoy, once said that we had no problem accepting that Michael Jordan could jump higher – but we got all upset when it was remarked that some brains were better and more agile than others. The difference is – an agile brain has long been asociated with superiority, and a lack of acknowledgement that such superiority is only intellectual – not moral, not physical, not spiritual. Mere Cleverness.

p>Elite does not have to equal snob, any more than discrimination is a bad thing – it’s just how you act with your eliteness, and what you discriminate about.

Don’t know if you wanted a serious reply… Most Dems identify with government on the FDR new deal model, which had government elites-by-definition determine where to spend money to improve the economy. Most responses here are along those lines.
<
p>I’m not saying FDR shouldn’t have won. He was the least wrong of the political choices at the time.
<
p>Most politicians of our time are the kind of people who desire to seize the Commanding Heights and then Command.
