non- needed, and/or negligent construction and related services surrounding the Big Dig. And don’t forget the Charlestown Teamsters and friends muscling their ways around movie sets.
Likewise, with Deval’s large monthly nut on two stately homes of thirty thousand and some odd dollars, does Deval have unneeded problems that can cause serious conflicts in performing his constitutional and statutory requirements as governor? Is his drug of choice living beyond his means? We all have some vice – I’m not knocking the guy.
This high spending living is always the risk for a ‘never had’ that gets put in with the “had absolutely everything’s” at a young age. Unfortunately for Deval he has to have two top-shelf, high-end, stately homes so as to keep up with best of the best from Harvard et al. Like your kids need a Wii because everyone else in ‘their world” has one. “Don’t embarrass me mother”
The poor bastard fell in with the wrong crowd. Now he’s gut this monkey on his back. And he don’t like jonzen’
His vice is expensive. And like any other, he has to support it. That means bargaining away a few things you would rather not. Perhaps even a small chip of personal integrity. Like Coke and Texaco and Ameriquest choosing to use your face and resume rather than a sincere effort to right wrongs. That’s your personal thing though. No problem. Doesn’t effect your ability to govern.
But being governor has its drawbacks. Financially speaking I mean. When a powerful politician has an expensive vice and no obvious and apparent way to support it then every move requires inspection by the people. For instance, what were partners at Ropes and Gray told about how much they could expect their yearly income to increase if casino gambling came to Massachusetts? Questions such as that.
This book deal mirrors former speaker of the U.S House Jim Wright’s situation. He had to resign speakership because of it. Isn’t this book deal a smart way to get money to Deval Patrick by selling them to people who want the governor’s ear? They get the same thing the people who raise money and give big money to his campaign get. Face time. But only better.
Here they spend tens of thousand of dollars out of an account already budgeted for employee development or something that goes directly to governor’s pocket. (After publisher and agents et al.) And the governor knows when he deals with this large consumer of books (big customer for his private outside business) how much money they paid to purchase his books. Like a lawyer dividing by three, Deval, as he is sitting across the table listening to what they want, knows exactly how much his personal bank account has increased because of these same people. And of course the publisher called Deval that morning telling him that the company that employs the guy he is seeing is considering buying an another boatload of copies. This time for their North Pole employees.
This book thing is bad. Real bad.
Almost like the Red Sox not hiring a single African American in their ever expanding front office since taking control of the team eight years ago. Hypocritical? Yes. But Deval’s situation is much more than hypocritical. It’s dangerous.

intimidated Texaco into a sweetheart job , then sucker punched Coke into a juicy settlement. “Confidentiality agreement” they said… No way does Coke want to beef with this Civil rights man, who is also a buddy of good old Jessie Jackson , the master of corporate tune ups,,,,Coke shelled out a couple of million in hush money ….Yes, but you have to give him credit….. Deval created a business plan based on his ability to intimidate those companies that don’t need nor want the negative racial PR.

p>Oh yes, almost forgot about the mother of all sub-prime lenders, Ameriquest. How soon we forget!…….Only quit the board when the heat was on in the election. Otherwise he would of gladly pumped more toxic loans to those who need it least.
<
p>We complained back then about his extravagant lifestyle, the mansion in the Berkshires, probably only worth half now from what he paid .
<
p>This guy is as narcissistic and phony as they come and slowly this reality is becoming obvious to his die hard followers.
<
p>Today is the book shtick ,but I suggest 12 months from now some financial irregularity will evolve and he will go the route of Elliot Spitzer, another freaking lawyer.
