Our man — all of ours — takes his first turn as President elect. So AWESOME!
The new map
Behold the new blue states: Florida Virginia Ohio Iowa Colorado New Mexico And, on behalf of BMG News, I am prepared to call the following additional states for Obama: ✓Nevada ✓Indiana ✓North Carolina East, West, North and South. A truly extraordinary, nationwide victory. And, yes, a mandate for change.
President Obama
A lot of history was made tonight. Congratulations to everyone who participated in making it happen. UPDATE: Email from Obama central: I’m about to head to Grant Park to talk to everyone gathered there, but I wanted to write to you first. We just made history. And I don’t want you to forget how we did it. You made history every single day during this campaign — every day you knocked on doors, made a donation, or talked to your family, friends, and neighbors about why you believe it’s time for change. I want to thank all of you who gave your time, talent, and passion to this campaign. We have a lot of work to do to get our country back on track, and I’ll be in touch soon about what comes next. But I want to be very clear about one thing… All of this happened because of you. Thank you, Barack

OUR COUNTRY REDEEMED! OBAMA ELECTED!
The curtain is about to go up on the next stage of our history. There is a lot of work still to be done, but this is a huge step forward.
Jason Lewis wins!
First, I would like to thank the hundreds of volunteers who have become an integral part of this grassroots campaign. Together we have not only built a team which will fight hard for the issues which matter most to the residents of Stoneham and Winchester, but we have built upon our already tight-knit community.
It has been a long campaign — Jason started canvassing way back in February and we have talked to thousands of voters on every street, in every neighborhood and in every precinct. We called thousands and thousands of voters and stood outside for hours and hours to show our support for Jason. This campaign is your campaign, you called, you stood and you knocked on doors with Jason. So when you see the results tonight, be proud of the job we did together and look forward to where we can bring this community.
Thanks to all in the BMG community for your support and for all your help!
With that said, here are tonight’s numbers:
Democratic Election night party at the Farimont Copley
The doors just opened a short time ago and this place is already packed. Huge cheers when up when MA was called for Sen. Obama and when John Kerry was announced as the US Senate winner in MA. Huge, huge cheers when PA was called just after 8 for Obama and when NH was called shortly thereafter. Congratulations to Jeanne Shaheen in NH. We have 2 Senate races already called for the Dems. I work for Senator Kerry as as an internet outreach coordinator.
We Made History
With all due respect for Charlie’s fatigue, and I know what he means, I generally find election days exciting — today especially so. We made history — we’ll see exactly how much in the next few hours, I suspect quite a lot — and that is rare and uplifting. I left my home in Manhattan at 4.00 this morning, caught a ride with a Republican taxi driver, fell asleep on the train and almost missed my stop, and was in place as a voter protection attorney for Obama at 6.40 in freezing pre-dawn Southwest Philadelphia. There were 80 voters on line when I arrived. The line had swelled to over 100 by just after 8.00 a.m. Not one complaint. “You’d have to drag me off this line.” “I welcome the line: more people voting.” “We’re making history.” “Rosa sat so Martin could walk so Obama can run so our children will fly.” By the time I left, to hustle back to NYC to vote before polls close at 9.00 p.m., 540 of 640 voters registered at my section had voted. That total is now up to 558 as I write. Take that, regressive parts of Pennsylvania. Yes, we can. [...]
BMG News Election Night Coverage Open Thread
Carol Shea-Porter hold on. Shays beaten in CT. NE is true blue. Hurray! Elizabeth Dole loses. Just brilliant. OHIO! We've got'em in ahead lock now! A crushing in PA more than 2-1. Awesome. Shaheen wins in NH! (thank you again canvassers!) Q1 down in flames. What a dumb idea. George Bush appears to have solidly screwed the Republicans for a decade if not a generation. Let's see 60 Senate seats, Dems! A stinging defeat. McConnell holds on. Question Two passes 2-1. Question Three leading. Good to see voters agree with most BMG posters: NYY Franken up in MN by a good margin!
