One Human Family – or why overturning Prop 8 matters [in the form of poetry]

ONE FAMILY

Children of One Family, Blessed by Eternal Love

Living in the Many Mansions built beyond Time

Sheltered by timeless Love, Warmed by the Spirit

Taught  eternal truths, beyond the dogmas of mankind.

Children of one family, blessed by eternal parents

Living in the many gardens beyond time;

Sheltered in earth life by the same sky, the same sun

Given free agency to grow in charity and find agape.

Before time and through time, beyond time and without end

Each living but once in this mortal state

Responsible for our treatment and care of one another

All journeying together on the long road Home.

Valued and loved and loving beyond definition or category

When we are in the service of our brothers and sisters, whomever they may be

We are in thy service, without judgment or discrimination

Acting in love as members of one human family.

[Trying to share why, as a believer, I cannot support discrimination in marriage in any fashion.  As some may know, I interpret the rule of law and separation of church and state in such a manner that I believe the state should only "enter civil unions" and each religion or non-state organization should be free to bless those  entered civil unions and hold ceremonies, or not, as each of them may choose in full separation of church and state and thereby betow the label "marriage" and any or all religious connocations or ceremonial connocations therefrom.]
