Hell yes, I'm going to advocate for an arts stimulus.
As Jason Linkins has so wisely stated, “Bartok's String Quartet No. 6 is a shovel-ready project if you are a violinist!”
I seriously wonder how and why artists don't view lobbying the government the same way people in any other industry do: As a potential support and solution to their problems. The fact is that there are any number of industries that have been getting “bailed out” — ie. subsized — for ages. Where would energy, agriculture, defense
The fact is that art creates value in the community — beauty. If you think that doesn't matter, or doesn't have a dollar effect … go someplace without art, or without artistic sensibility. Nobody wants to live in those places.
