I sent some money to a few candidates over the last year (including Hillary) and I am inundated with emails (asking for more) or just general political information (and asking for more). Most allow you to "opt-out" if you want it to stop.

I must get 2-3 emails each day, most of which aren't from the DNC, but from various offshoots.

The RNC site has lots of opportunities to donate, but I see nothing about annual dues.

<

p>In my experience, any such organization is always looking for contributions, either in time or money. They also send out tons of mailings to try to get people motivated to do so.

On a semi-weekly basis. The last envelope was stamped "past due" in red. Maybe in 2011 I'll find another party.

My first father-in-law (back in the late seventies) was an ardent Republican and Reagan supporter. As a way of pranking his new son-in-law (I was a flagrantly open Democrat), he sent contributions on my behalf to the "Committee To Elect Ronald Reagan" (I think that was the name) and the national GOP.

<

p>I got a nice shiny bright red wallet card, and they sent me those "past due" notices for months afterwards.

<

p>Sounds like some things never change.
