Statement from Harry Rubash, MD, MGH Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery, who performed Gov. Patrick's procedure:

"Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick is in good condition, alert and resting comfortably following successful hip replacement surgery today at Massachusetts General Hospital . The procedure lasted approximately 2 1/2 hours without any complications. Gov. Patrick is expected to remain in the hospital for four to five days, followed by a few weeks of outpatient rehabilitation."

    I lost a good deal of respect for the man when he did not fulfill his pledge to only serve 4 terms in the House.

    And I think it would be disrespectful if he left his job as Chancellor of UMass Lowell after only 2 years.
