Push conference call with Capuano

So, I got a robo-call from Capuano at about 8:20 this evening to hold the line while I got piped into a conference call with him.  It’s a pretty clever way to get some exposure; out of curiosity I put the phone on speaker and am listening while I do dishes.

And I’ll give Cap credit for this- the call-in questioners are clearly not screened to softball throwers only- I believe the current caller called Capuano “wishy-washy.”

For the record, I’m still on the fence for the primary, but my familiarity with and opinion of Capuano is a bit higher than it was a few minutes ago.

  1. Huh

Should have picked up.  I let it go to the machine when I saw the 202 area code.

    • I missed the call too..Darn!

      • I got it at 8:55 PM

which i thought was unusually late for a political call to come in...I was on another line so once i heard it was a robo call, I just disconnected from it and went back to my original call...I hate robo calls, especially robo calls that tell you to hold on the line...

  2. robo invitation to a live conference call with Capuano

I'd definitely pick up and listen if the caller ID had his name - Rep Capuano

....whereas during the preliminary for Boston Mayor I couldn't have done more to avoid the pestering calls by friends of Doug Bennett et al.

  3. saw the call, didn't answer

I was watching the Tigers/Twins game. A voice mail was left (I just noticed). If they had a better called ID, I might have picked up and paused the game.

FYI, caller ID was TELETOWNHALL 202-556-2270.

I do wonder where they got the phone numbers. Mine is unlisted.

    • Democratic activist?

Been to a Democratic State Convention?

      • Got the call - Listened

I got the call and stayed on the line.  I listened for quite a while. Afghanistan seemed to get more questions and comments than any other topic.  I left impressed with the Congressman.  Not a delegate to the convention, but my roommate has been.

    • Unlisted...

...does not necessarily mean not in the voter file, just not in the public phone book, though I think you can request it be removed from that as well.

      • voter files do not have phone numbers

At least where I live (I'm looking at my own entry right now).

I think pablo's on the right track or maybe some campaign has shared my info (it's happened with email addresses before).

  4. Good call

covered a wide variety of topics. I also did not agree with the wishy-washy. Capuano articulated a well thought out reasoned position on Afganistan. Basically we went in to get Al Qaeda, they are no longer there, why are we? Capuano said he would be listening with an open mind for additional facts - that's not wishy washy.

  5. More Tele-Town Halls Tonight

    Hi Everyone,

First let me introduce myself.  My name is Roger Lau and I am Mike Capuano's Campaign Manager.  I wanted to put up a quick post about our "Open Mike" Tele-Town Hall last night.  Obviously, the conversation doesn't stop when Mike's in DC! Thanks to everyone who was able to join the very first "Open Mike" Tele-Town Hall. This is a great way for Mike to continue to stay in touch with all of you while he is in DC for votes and fighting for issues important to all of us. Let your voice be heard! Also, stay tuned for Open Mikes events across Massachusetts this weekend!

Later tonight, October 7th, Congressman Mike Capuano will hold two more telephone town halls for Massachusetts voters.   With the technology available today, Mike is able to share his progressive vision and strong record of accomplishment with many thousands of concerned citizens.   As he values considerably the opinions of those he seeks to represent, Mike encourages listeners to participate in these "Open Mike" conversations by asking questions.  Confident that these exchanges are important in spreading his positive message and record to voters for whom he may not be familiar, Mike enjoys these discussions and looks forward to more.

To participate, please call 888-356-3090 and then enter the corresponding extension followed by the # key.  Please note there are different extension numbers for each of these telephone town halls.

    6:30 - 7:30           (888) 356-3090 Ext.13452# 7:45 - 8:45           (888) 356-3090 Ext.13453#
