  1. Important stuff! Thanks for posting these segments, Neil

Along with many others I don't have cable TV, so I rely on fellow activists to post things like this online where I can view them.  Whoa...that Tim Phillips is a real weasel.

Neil, I'd like to know what you're doing on the health reform front so email me if you can at ann at defendhealth.org

For local actions aimed to expose and confront corporate abuse in health care, check this out:

11 health care protesters arrested at CIGNA offices in Newton

Boston Globe, October 15, 2009, By Matt Rocheleau

Eleven health care activists were arrested on trespassing charges today as they protested in front of the CIGNA insurance office in Newton to draw attention to what they said was the insurance industry's denial of coverage to some patients. source  http://www.boston.com/yourtown...

Here's my comment if it gets thru the screening filter:

Thank you to all who took part in planning and being at the protests at CIGNA. Nurses are standing with you because we have seen, over and over again, how insurance companies put profits before patient needs.

Health care should not be treated as a commodity that people are forced to buy at high cost in the "marketplace"; it should be treated as a public good where everyone pays in on a sliding scale and everyone receives good coverage. We would all pay much less and would get much more in health benefits if the U.S. had a national health program. We all pay in for fire, police, public health services (like safe drinking water), and they're there when we need them; health care should be no different!

The group Mass-Care provides great resources and ways to get involved in this work, as do other groups like the Alliance to Defend Health Care. visit them at http://www.masscare.org and http://www.defendhealth.org
