Rasmussen Poll released today shows Patrick increasing his lead slightly “including leaners” and Baker stagnating. There are a lot of polls going around, so take from it what you will, previous poll in parentheses:
Patrick 47 (45)
Baker 42 (42)
Cahill 6 (5)
Another Candidate 2 (5)
Undecided 3 (2)

Republican leaning Rasmussen. Guess what? He pronounced himself as winning. Herald has the story.

p>It’s going to be a close race but if these desperate Baker releases don’t even muster top billing at the Herald you got credibility problems.

I thought, according to the Baker fans re: the Boston Globe poll, this race was over and Baker was victorious?

Compared with 4 years ago, I sense a deep lack of enthusiasm on the part of the Governor’s supporters. I worry that my fellow Devalites are too much enjoying having him as Governor and are not worrying about getting him re-elected.
<
p>It’s easy (and fun) to take such wonderfulness for granted, as it seems to us to be the natural order of things. There is a real chance, however, that he could lose this election. Because of indifference. Or, maybe, more enthusiasm on the other side. Do I need to say, “Remember Scott Brown!”?
<
p>The local polls show the race to be much tighter. Polling is an art, not a science, despite what the pollsters would want us to believe. I know many who question Rasmussen’s methodology. I’m willing to take his results at face value, but I don’t take great comfort from such a small lead.
<
p>I’m delighted that Carl Nilsson is heading up the OFAMA GOTV, working closely with John Walsh and staff. That give me much more confidence than any poll I see.
<
p>But we all need to throw ourselves into this one. Think about the alternative. After you recover from that shuddering attack, get out there and work!

At this point in time, this poll is no more significant than the Globe sponsored poll, that was so breathlessly hyped last week. WBZ radio had it headlining their morning news 3 days after the Globe had it splashed across the top of their newspaper.

There is an enormous amount of error in all of these polls. Most of them suck and even the ones that don’t have a lot of variability. Still, I look at a lot of them. It seems to me that Democrats are beginning to rally. It is one thing to say abstractly that things suck and that neither Deval nor Obama have done everything we think they should and that Harry Reid has no guts, but look at the alternative. I think Democrats are beginning to consider that.
<
p>I was at a standout yesterday in Southern Worcester County. Not a Democratic stronghold. We got pretty good responses. I am beginning to think we might not lose everything. But there is still lots of work to do.
