NEWTON- Congressman Barney Frank today received the endorsement of Edward McCormick, III – his Republican opponent in the 1992 election. Mr. McCormick and Congressman Frank engaged in a series of robust, but respectful and focused debates in the 1992 election cycle.
In the event of a Republican takeover of one or both houses of Congress on November 2nd, it won’t be long before the Tea Party Movement and the G.O.P. will be involved in one or more train wrecks, some of which could be pretty dramatic. These train wrecks will arise from fundamental differences in philosophy and will occur over a period of time that could begin sooner rather than later. Upending Republican establishmentarians during primaries was relatively easy; winning general elections where competitive ideas are at issue could be a bit harder. Governing will be much harder still, particularly when you take into account the differences between Tea Party rhetoric and American political reality. The first obstacle newly elected members of the movement will face is the institutional nature of Congress. Tea Party freshmen in both the House and Senate will be at the bottom of Congressional seniority lists and thus not immediately in line for leadership roles as committee chairpersons. Thus they will be in the position of having to sell their policy proposals to the existing leadership. That leadership may be more amenable to the ideas of the newcomers given the fact that several veteran Republican lawmakers are [...]
The Post RedMass Group doesn’t want anyone to see. ———————————————— If people are stupid enough to elect that corrupt slimball dirty cop they should hide their daughters. He is either blind, deaf or a corrupt cover-up the police crime dirty cop or the most stupid individual to ever run for office. Not to hear the screams of 16 year old girl – perhaps your daughter or your neighbor’s – who was being stripped naked by his partner dirty cop is beyond belief. Jeff Perry is an accessory to an attempted sexual assault on a 16 year old girl. He should be sitting in the halls of Cedar Junction not the halls of Congress. If you have any moral fiber or any Judeo-Christian belief you cannot support Jeff Perry in good conscience. You do not have to support Bill Keating or vote for Bill Keating to express your disgust for the actions of Dirty Cop Jeff Perry. Blank the Ballot. Write in Mickey Mouse. Write in your own Name. Send Dirty Cop Jeff Perry a message that his immoral behavior must be condemned if not by his fellow dirty cops then by the voters.
The degree to which newspapers throughout the 10th Congressional District have shunned Jeff Perry is striking. From his own hometown weekly to Rupert Murdoch owned Cape Cod Times to the northern end of the district served by The Patriot Ledger, no paper in the CD has endorsed Perry for Congress, and most said he was a man they could not trust. The only fig leaf Perry can hold to cover up this embarrassment, is the endorsement of Boston-based Herald, which has a circulation of about 652 papers in the 10th CD. Now I maybe wrong and someone can correct me by pointing out some shopper in Mashpee endorsed Perry, but all the Wicked Local papers on the Cape endorsed Keating, along with the Ledger, the Cape Cod Times and the Boston Globe. Independent Maryanne Lewis garnered the endorsement of the Barnstable Patriot and many of the Wicked Local papers located near Lewis’s Scituate “base”. But I’m not aware of one newspaper that endorsed or had anything good to say about Jeff Perry. Here is a sampling of what they are saying about Jeff: Home town paper, the Sandwich Broadsider: We understand the views of conservative voters who see [...]
We’ve gotten official word that the Tea Party Express is coming into my hometown of Worcester on Monday, with an unannounced “special guest.” We all know the circus that comes with that, and we’re expecting it to be in full force on Monday.
THE TEA PARTY EXPRESS IS CROSSING THE COUNTRY AND WILL HAVE TRAVELED 5,837 MILES BY THE TIME THEY GET TO WORCESTER. LET’S WELCOME THEM BY RAISING $5837, ONE DOLLAR FOR EVERY MILE, BEFORE THE TEA PARTY GETS HERE ON MONDAY AFTERNOON. We’re already well on the way to reaching our goal, and just need you to put us over the top.
Meanwhile, my opponent continues to feebly grasp at straws, regurgitating old news stories in an attempt to distance himself from real issues. Among other claims, his people have accused my loyal supporters of being “paid thugs.” Desperate people do desperate things, and his side is clearly desperate. Who knows what mud he’ll sling in these last days.
NEWS FLASH!!!!! We just caught the Webster folks putting attack flyers on mailboxes which is ILLEGAL. The plate was taken and reported to police. Police are now searching for the vehicle. Josh Cutler, running for State Rep. for Duxbury, Pembroke, Hanson, and Halifax, his volunteers caught them in the act. Last minute election hijinx are nothing new to Massachusetts, and certainly not new to the Republican party. What’s remarkable is the content of the flyer. Other then hateful and basesless attacks on Josh Cutler, the flyer claims that Rep Webster has a 100% attendace record as State Rep, a quick google search will show you that the Plymouth Daily News, on October 16th of this year, names Webster in the top 10 worst attendance records in the house. He missed 28 votes in 1 day. 100%? That’s a lie and he should be ashamed.
It’s Halloween, and there is some spooky stuff going on in Charlie Baker’s World. All over the state, abandoned buildings are going up. Empty places haunted by ghouls and goblins. That’s right, we are taking about Baker Campaign Western Massachusetts offices. Spooky!
One of my family, who is an independent voter who usually leans Democratic, told me he was likely to vote for Charlie Baker. I said I hoped Deval Patrick would win because I think he’s done a good job in difficult circumstances, and then I got asked this question:
“What good things has Deval Patrick done?”
Because we got distracted by other people walking into the room and conversation taking a different turn, I only got a sentence or two into my answer, so after I got home, I emailed a longer answer.
[ Because it was almost stream of consciousness, I'm cleaning it up a little bit, and I'm also de-hyperbolizing it slightly (have I been influenced by that rally I went to yesterday? , but below is almost exactly what I wrote off the top of my head ]
An enormous throng gathered in Washington DC yesterday, to push back on the insanity and lies propagated across the nation by a dishonest GOP and the Tea Party mob.
You’d never know it by picking up the Boston Globe — a tiny front-page sidebar directs readers to page A-18!
Instead, above the fold we see multiple pieces about how well the GOP is doing. The message? “Go GOP”. Below the fold we see a crucially urgent piece on “An epidemic of anxiety”, about bullying and a piece noting that the Greenbush line is failing to attract riders.
