Hey Bruins,

After the banner is raised tonight don’t expect us fans to care about last year. This is Boston, baby. Now I didn’t say Philly so you can relax. But if we don’t see lots of back checking from the forwards tonight, Saturday night, and every other night then expect the boos to be loud and often.

Now I’m sure you guys spent training camp telling tales of celebrities you hung out with and the women you , ahem, dated. Neil Armstrong wasn’t treated as well when he got back from the moon. And the places you’ve each been since last getting drunk as a group, my god, must be tough to turn that off.

But damn it you must.

Just remember all the iconic athletes who’ve been booed here before. I’m sorry, try and remember one who wasn’t. You guys are no big deal in the scheme of things. Last year’s team won, not you.  If we don’t see hustle we will turn on you faster than Joe Lally turned on Sal DiMasi.  And don’t forget, the bigger you are the harder the fall. The fans and media, like sharks, will sense an opportunity and turn it into a feeding frenzy.

Yes things have changed. But as long each player plays each game as if it’s his last we will all get along fine. However, if you don’t, well, ….., God save us all.
