Determined not to let Karl Rove & Co. have the run of the place, Elizabeth Warren’s campaign has announced that it will begin airing its first ad – a 60-second “get to know Elizabeth Warren” spot – tomorrow. It’s pretty well done, IMHO. I like the dismissive comment about “ridiculous attack ads,” and I think the ad packs a lot of useful info into its 60 seconds that will help those who haven’t started thinking too hard about the Senate race to understand who she is and why she’s running. If you like it and want to help keep it on the air, you can do so here.
Here it is – what do you think?

Concede nothing: starting off with a promo for the attack ads of the Sith Lords does nothing for Elizabeth Warren’s candidacy. Either the ad speaks for itself, or it doesn’t. Fortunately, it goes on from there: she’s a nice person with a family and she fights for the little guy. There is, however, a certain philosophical inconsistency in the ad: she’s fighting for the little guy, but wants a level playing field. As the foreclosure crisis makes clear, corporate steamrollers level playing fields by bulldozing the little league players flat. If she’s for the little guy, she’s for making sure that everyone in our community plays fair and lives up to their responsibilities, not just a “level playing field.”

…Salon promotes her as a presidential candidate in 2016, though judging by comments on her various Facebook posts, she is already well on her way. Maybe giving her a prime time speaking spot (which as a Senate candidate was how Obama himself was first exposed to a national audience) would prop up the entire party’s credibility on this type of populism.
