Health care arrives at the Supreme Court
In case you somehow had missed the news, this week the U.S. Supreme Court will hear an extraordinary, and perhaps unprecedented, six hours of argument on the Affordable Care Act. The headline issue, of course, is whether the individual mandate is constitutional. But there are a couple of other, extremely important issues being heard as well, including one that could kick a decision on the individual mandate down the road a couple of years. The Court’s decisions, which are expected by June, will inevitably, in one way or another, be factors in the presidential race – something of which the Court is no doubt well aware. As always, the best place to go for thorough and unbiased information, along with links to briefs and other case materials, is SCOTUSblog, which has helpfully assembled a resource page with links to all of its health care coverage. If you really want to understand what’s going on at the Court, spend your time at SCOTUSblog – there’s plenty of reading material there to keep you busy.
