It seems that Scott Brown is taking a cavalier attitude toward his campaign donations. Brown was questioned about over 2 million in donations that were not properly categorized. In instances, large individual donations from Wall Street executives were placed in an uncategorized bucket which under reports the amount of influence Wall Street has on his campaign. A quick search in an earlier post found large donor John Griffin who runs Wall Street hedge fund Blue Ridge Capital.
Brown’s response:
Democrats said a simple Google search reveals that some of the donors who failed to list their employment information on Brown’s reports work on Wall Street, an industry that Warren has accused Brown of protecting.
Brown said he doesn’t get involved in his campaign finance reports. “You’ll have to speak to the campaign,” he said when asked about the missing employment information. “I don’t have time to zero in on the financial reports, obviously.”
“You’ll have to speak to the campaign”? Maybe someone needs to tell Scott Brown that this is his campaign, and he is responsible for his own campaign. He can’t manage or take responsibility of his own campaign?
Jamie Eldridge spoke to reporters today on the issue.
In a conference call with reporters on Monday, state Sen. Jamie Eldridge, D-Acton, said that since some of the donors with incomplete employer information are easily traceable online, he doesn’t believe the Brown campaign has went far enough to provide all the required information.
“Scott Brown’s campaign has failed to disclose employer information on more than $2 million in campaign contributions, many of which are from New York bankers and DC lobbyists,” Eldridge said. “This is not only a violation of FEC rules, but an attempt to conceal the source of nearly one fifth of the Brown campaign’s contributions. If Brown isn’t disclosing information on key Wall Street backers, what else is he hiding? Scott Brown needs to come clean and stop trying to keep secret the campaign cash he’s receiving from Wall Street and Washington DC.”
Time for Brown to come clean on exactly who is funding his campaign.
