Viral video watch: Brown’s staff “war whooping” nears 200,000 views

The video BMG posted a few days ago of Scott Brown’s Senate staffers “whooping” it up at a rally has caught fire, recording almost 200,000 views.  YouTube’s view counter tends to run a bit behind, so the actual number is probably a good deal larger.

Also noteworthy is the video from this post of Brown apparently ignoring “war whoops” as he addressed a small gathering in Chatham over the summer. That video is somewhat less inflammatory, but it nonetheless has recorded almost 10,000 views and has forced Brown to respond to it. According to Janet Wu of Channel 5:

Brown denies hearing whooping war sounds from supporters videotaped at Chatham campaign event this summer while he criticized Warren

Seems eerily reminiscent of when Brown denied hearing an incredibly crude comment about Martha Coakley at a rally in 2010.  His hearing does seem a tad selective at times.

  1. I'd like to know

if these are the sort of voters and diehard supporters he is trying to attract with his own negative, fact-free attacks on Warren’s heritage?

  2. I keep reading that

he apologized for his employees’ behavior, but I didn’t see any language that was apologetic. He said he “regretted” their behavior. That’s not an apology where I come from.

I regret some things in life, but I don’t recall having to apologize for them.

  3. I was pleasantly surprised

to see one of the networks (Chanel 5 I think) credit BMG and run the video.

I almost never see broadcast news (was waiting for an eggplant parm sub this time)–is this a regular occurrence?

    • I saw 7 credit BMG.

It was in the morning, but I forget which day. It’s doubly cool when you consider how short every story they run in the morning is.

  4. Keller just slammed BMG

on Greater Boston saying that the “left-wing blog” that got this video and circulated it on Youtube didn’t show the “context” of what was happening, only a little snippet.

    Its all so unfair.

    • I'm sorry

But in what plausible context could that possibly be appropriate? They weren’t a Braves game, fer cryin’ out loud.

      • The show was awful in general tonight

They were doing a piece on whether or not the Brownies fed the story about Warren and the steel company to the Glode. Brown of course denied it the other day. But Rooney said basically, why does it matter , the story has panned out.

        The story has panned out….?

Its a real luv-in over there especially with Gail Huff.

        • Since when is Greater Boston

EVER a good show? I really have been hatin’ on it for years.

They need to get rid of Rooney, she sucks. And I don’t mean that as a partisan who dislikes the so-called “fair and balanced” crap. I just hate watching her at all, she annoys the crap out of me. Always so smug and thinks she knows more than she really does.

          • Agreed

I do like some of her guests on Beat the Press – but the ones I like are rarely on the show.
But she is the go-to journalist if you want to know the state of affairs on Newbury Street.

    • Keller can bite me.
