But yea, many of those items should have been put into motion four years ago. Of course, just as a Dem POTUS can put 'em into motion, a GOP POTUS can put a stop to 'em. Then again, the NRA et al have done a remarkable job pulling strings to make it hard for good, solid data exposing how damaging gunshots are to America to be compiled, studied, or shown the light of day. This is a president who, a month ago, was talking about his political capital in regards to gun safety. For a party that for 20 years has been cowed by the NRA and Southern wingnuttery, this is a change of direction. Future presidential candidate :( Andrew Cuomo just passed major legislation for gun safety. This is definitely not 1968, but the time are changing. It's not glamorous, and it would have been nice to see some fight beforehand, but the liberal class, in the words of Chris Hedges, is dead. We are finally coming around to seeing our Democratic President of the the 20th century, this announcement is almost reckless.
