Admittedly, I cheated on BMG and went to RMG today, and saw on their blog this article from the NYT. I do recall a discussion I had on BMG about green energy, and I stated much of it is made outside the USA, unlike American coal. Oh there was the usual back and forth, I was just a troll who didnt know what he was talking about, and green energy would create jobs here in New England, “our future” is what Deval claimed in 2010 as he ran for re-election.
The NYT article talks about a local mfg. Mass Tank, who was suppose to build support structures for Cape Wind. Deval even used them as a prop during his re-election by saying “This agreement between Cape Wind, Mass Tank and EEW will create hundreds of new manufacturing jobs in Massachusetts as we take the lead on offshore wind energy in the United , “This is what our clean energy future is all about”.
The article goes on how Mass Tank lost the bid, and the jobs that go with it, to a German company called EEW. So, how about them guillotines, I mean turbines, can we build them here in America, for Cape Wind? Nah, they will be built by Siemens, who has a large plant in Denmark. “Even if the project is completed, most of the investment and jobs for supplying the parts will go not to American companies like Mass Tank, but to European manufacturers”. So, in other words, Europe gets most of the jobs, and we get the high electric bills while simultaneously ruining the pristine views of Nantucket Sound. What a deal, thanks Deval!
