There is the precedent of the Herald making a columnist’s angle on something its lead story, but it’s usually on a bigger story than this: an unknown businessman enters the governor’s race. Joe Battenfeld thinks he might be a spoiler and keep Baker from winning.
Who sold this angle, Baker himself? Maybe he wants to add a little drama to a race without one?
And yes, I know, it’s always tricky to try to interpret the Herald.

The Herald calls this guy the “new Mitt.” Ya think the original Mitt would get elected in 2014? He couldn’t crack 40% here running for President.
But I do think it’s noteworthy if only because Cahill didn’t help Baker much last time around. Front page, maybe not.
