Wouldn’t it be great to see Fred Wyshak strapped to a stretcher blathering about Alan Dershowitz not resting until he (Wyshak) puts Bill Bulger in jail as he is being lifted into an ambulance outside the courthouse?
I can dream can’t I?
Even the usual Fred Wyshak suck-up Peter Gelzinis has second thoughts about the latest version of Fast Freddy’s one-hit wonder “Whitey Bulger Worst Human Evah”.
What a tune, great hook. And it was long too. Like “American Pie” or “Low Spark of High Heeled Boys”.
But that’s all Freddy has. Sure he has his Vegas afternoon lounge act with the Tim Flaherty set-up and the Probation trial was another shot as a D-list celebrity by attempting to get Chris Bulger for having the audacity of being Billy’s kid.
SJC appointed probation department investigator Paul Ware lied in his report and to Freddy. Ware went Roger Goodell trying to implicate Bulger by cutting and pasting testimony from probation department employees. Just like Goodell’s report Paul Ware’s report fell apart and the main target’s reputation (Chris Bulger) was severely harmed. Now the Appeals Court is wondering if the phony crime the feds created against O’Brien and Taveres is a crime?
Note: O’Brien and Taveres are two more in a long list of innocent people suffering consequences because they had a relationship with a Bulger. In this case they worked in the same department.
And don’t forget Freddy still has a grand jury investigating the state house’s role in probation. He wants so bad to create a crime against Bob Deleo. How can Deleo leave office when Wyshak keeps hitting him with legal expenses? He doesn’t have that kind of money. Only his campaign account does.
See how Wyshak has inserted himself into the normal and legal operations of state governemnt bringing a chill into routine and ethical matters that can appear on first-look questionable at most.
Freddy is like “The Hangover 3”, or Joe Paterno’s last ten seasons. Hanging on to the one thing they have when everyone is yelling “give it up!”
And Catherine Greig is saying “bring it on”. The feds will call one witness. Fred Wyshak perhaps? I believe he’s the prosecutor whose questions she refused to answer. Greig’s lawyer Kevin Reddington is hoping it is. But even if it is one of his lap dogs going before one of the mostly lap dog judges in the in the incestuous Moakly Building Reddington will have much to work with. If the judge lets him. Baahahahah
How deep does Reddington get to probe? What was the purpose of the grand jury? Who is Pat Nee? Who is Margolis? Explain discrepancy #1, #2, #3……
Or should we expect the same-same-ole from a typical Moakley Court House judge (i.e. a former AUSA with Wyshak and now a pathetic excuse for the face of Justice) and simply rely on the testimony of an AUSA acting as a keeper of the records?
Will that hold up on appeal? Who knows? But many whispers among the 75% in the Justice Department who are honest (notice I didn’t say 99%) of the Fred Wyshak-Bulger-Family-Moby-Dick weirdness tells me Freddy’s symptoms of madness can’t go on for ever. Atb some point they have to be addressed. We know historians will, but will the Fedreral Court ever do anything?
Keep quiet Catherine and maybe we can see a John Welch moment. Oh wait, we can’t. No cameras no recording devices in courtroom. Makes it so much easier for Freddy to continue with his insanity.

Nothing the Greig could possibly say can help or hurt Whitey Bulger. So if she’s protecting someone, it’s not him.
Is she refusing to testify just out of spite? Or is there someone out there walking around free because she refuses to testify?
eb3-fka-ernie-boch-iii says
If she testifies there is not a thing on earth she can say, no matter how truthfully, that Wyshak won’t create an indictment from.
That is what he does. He manufactures evidence and scripts his witnesses.

I don’t get the vitriol I am reading in these comments. Kevin Weeks is a self-confessed murderer and he is free as a bird. John Martorano admits to killing 20 people in heinous and vicious fashion and he was released after serving about ten years. Everyone involved in this two decade old crime is either in prison or has been given a pass by the feds. So why are they piling on and trying to extend the long term of incarceration Greig received? Why such hatred and apathy from self-professed compassionate progressives? Is it because you don’t like the messenger? Is that why you show such callousness? it seems that every time this diarist posts certain people come out to confirm that the right has no monopoly on hateful trolls.

I don’t really see that. I think some are tired of Ernie’s obsession with the topic.
Personally, I don’t care much about it either way, but don’t have all that much sympathy for Grieg. What do you expect when you shield a mass murderer and FBI’s #1 wanted man? Fair or not, do you really think the FBI has much incentive to go easy on her?
bob-gardner says
because if they don’t do everything they can to compel Grieg to testify it will fuel the theory that the FBI was complicit in Bulger’s flight from justice.
As far the the light sentences for Martorano and Weeks are concerned, part of the reason for that. maybe a big part, is that no much evidence was developed over the years that these murders took place. Nobody seems to have seen anything that they wanted to talk about, and local and state law enforcement never seemed to be able to put together any kind of a case.
It’s more than a little inconsistent to complain about the light sentences given to killers, while glorifying the people who refuse to testify against them.
