The Massachusetts Gambling Commission is one big law school course on legal ineptness, negligence, misfeasance, malfeasance, ethical violations and lots more.
The Attorney General just called it out for having lunch meetings (at taxpayer expense I suppose).
Jim McHugh, former MA Appeals Court judge, current commissioner, and all around smartest guy in the room didn’t have a clue that this was violating open meeting rules. Basic administrative law crap.
Christ, local yocals know this but not Jimmy or Steve Crosby.
The Globe should be calling for the resignations of all the commission members. Why isn’t it? Why does the Globe make like the Mass Gambling Commission is made up of Mother Teresa and Peace Corp volunteers?
That’s just one instance. The list of significant due process miscues and appearances of conflict by this wayward commission is endless. That’s why Mohegan Sun is allowed to go forward on its suit against the commission.
Can you imagine if the Mass Gaming Commission is forced to pay Mohegan Sun tens of millions of dollars for rigging the system? That’s basically what it’s accused of.
Do we read any of this in the Globe? Ahhhhhh, welll…. not really.
Any editorials calling for a change of guard at this blatantly flawed and improper commission?
No, of course not. Why you ask. Money. M – O – N – E – Y. The same thing being paid to everyone else.
Steve Wynn money. Advertising money. All sorts of money.
Funny how there’s been no reporting on John Henry’s school girl tweet to Emily Rooney.
A once in a lifetime gift to a journalist. The CEO of the major company and man about town calling you out.
Yet nothing. Chirpity chirp chirp.
Wonder how that works?
Did Dan Kennedy write anything about this? I didn’t see it if he did.
Who needs who? The Globe or WGBH? Let’s discuss, shall we?
WGBH has the fledgling radio station where most of its on-air personalities are also John Henry employees. What’s that marriage all about? I mean other than the fact that Henry thinks he owns everyone at GBH.
The Globe needs to remind people it exists. It nees GBH to mention ot over and over again. Otherwise..well. You know.People forget.
GBH is also the number one iconic public television station in the country that on a dime could produce a Frontline documentary calling out John Henry or an interest of his: like the Globe and its duplicitousness when it comes to Steve Wynn.
Maybe even call out the Globe for being wholly owned by Fred Wyshak and The Moakley Building.
Where were all those stories on the Caswell Hotel?
Really, who needs who more? GBH does not need the Globe. Its radio station does not need the Globe. In fact they would do better without the Globe. The on air Globie ass licking is gross.
Does anyone read the Globe anymore? I mean really read it. Not skim the on-line version.
Hey Globe, credibility and likability count. You guys have little of that left. Not good for a business on the decline.
But for obituaries and sports the Globe brings little to the table these days. The modern reader is more savvy and aware of agenda driven content. The Globe’s angle is more ane more apparent to today’s vesion of Joe six-pack who is more educated and cynical.
Way to go Dave Portnoy!
