Here’s another Democrat to watch in 2018. Beto O’Rourke is a really likable populist sounding progressive running against the least liked person in the Senate. Only drawback is it’s Texas-where Cruz’s brand of crazy conservative is ascendant. Beto is running differently than the last statewide flameout Wendy Davis. He is focusing like a laser on a small donor fundraising, grassroots oriented door to door campaign. Ironically the same formula that brought Cruz from an insurgent primary challenge to the establishment to the insider he is today. And he is running on kitchen table issues like AHCA, cuts to Medicaid, and other ways Cruz has hurt the bottom line for too many residents of his state. This NBC News analyst thinks he’s got a fair shot. You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take-and Cruz should get a strong challenge even if it’s uphill.
