My name is Steve Scott and I’m writing you today to tell my 2018 campaign story. As of yesterday afternoon, I will be working for Bob Massie on his campaign to become governor of Massachusetts.
When Donald Trump was elected, I suffered about a week of despair before I pulled myself together and committed to help elect a Democrat governor of Massachusetts in 2018. I immediately reviewed the candidates in the race, and at that time I determined to support Setti Warren. I became a Super Volunteer. By the middle of May, I had represented Mayor Warren at 37 Democratic Committee caucuses and four Democratic State Committee platform hearings. I began site advance work and was firmly committed to Mayor Warren’s candidacy. During the campaign, I attended over 185 campaign events in 103 communities. I got a firsthand look at what the people of Massachusetts are looking for in our next governor.
I met Bob Massie soon after he entered the race in May, 2017. I was impressed with his experience and his passion for all the people of our Commonwealth. As I traveled around our state helping to build momentum for our push to replace Governor Baker, I had the occasion to hear Bob speak on many occasions. My respect for him as a person and as a candidate has grown every time.
As you probably know by now, Mayor Warren has announced his withdrawal from the governor’s race and thus released me from my commitment to his candidacy. I needed little time to make my decision about who to support. My candidate is Bob Massie.
Bob’s long and distinguished efforts in support of causes close to my heart are inspiring. From his work in South Africa combating apartheid through his directorship of Ceres, the largest coalition of environmental groups and institutional investors in the United States to fight for climate resiliency, to his presidency of the New Economy Coalition and his work as Director of the Sustainable Solutions Lab at UMass-Boston, Bob has worked tirelessly toward greater justice and sustainability.
I hope you will join me on Bob Massie’s campaign as we work towards changing not just the governor but also governance of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Let’s do this.

Thanks for this perspective, Steve. I’m also a Massie supporter because I see him as the one to make a sharp contrast with Baker. Also, he’s the only transformational leader who can get us out of our rut and into a local, sustainable, renewable energy economy. I’m really impressed by his long record of standing up to big corporations.
When people see and hear Bob Massie, they’re impressed!
