(Promoted in the interest of open discussion. With respect to Kayot's question, Jamie Eldridge has been absolutely out-front with his endorsement of HR 676, which would create a single-payer system of health insurance. Briefly, that means we kick health insurance companies to the curb, and have the government pay for (though not deliver) health care.
Here's the actual bill: HR 676.

I might add -- Kayot quotes Jim Miceli as asking Eldridge how he plans to pay for single-payer health care. Hilarious. That's like asking the Mercedes owner how he plans to pay for a Hyundai. We pay some 16% of our GDP for health care; Canada pays about 10%, and covers everyone, without exception. The question is: How the hell do we pay for the system we have?
