  1. Sequestration. (1 Reply)

He’s said two completely difference things so far. The first was on his website in which he acts as if sequestration is a problem needing a fix.

The second was when he was speaking to a meeting of Boston Republicans and saying that sequestration did not go far enough.

  2. What is your problem with Carmen Ortiz? (1 Reply)

If it is Baker vs Ortiz, I might have to go with Ortiz.

  3. It's an issue I'm digging into. (0 Replies)

How about this: Actually dig into those issues: tax policy, gun control, abortion rights, the environment. Examine each candidate’s record and positions on those issues. Confront them with what you find. And then write about it.

The media’s been pathetic so far treating abortion as a binary pro or con. I’d like to see each candidate questioned on the particular legislative agendas of NARAL, Planned Parenthood, MCFL, etc, especially if these are organizations that have endorsed one or another candidates.

Do you have an answer on Down’s Syndrome? On a scale of 0 to 10, is it a practice that you have 0 qualms about or up to and including 10 qualms?

I’ll go on record as saying that I’m an 8.

  4. Of course not. (2 Replies)

It doesn’t matter what think. There are people and cultures that value having a boy more than a girl. If abortion is an unrestricted choice, then people can use any reason to procure one even an unsavory reason.

Do you think there should be restrictions on sex selected abortions? Do you think there should be restrictions on downs syndrome abortions? Do your two answers differ and why?

  5. Do you feel the same about sex selection? (2 Replies)

Aborting a girl because a couple would prefer a boy. It seems to me that there are certain abortion situations that people who are generally prochoice nonetheless have discomfort with. Does it amount to eugenics? Not exactly, but maybe too close for comfort.

There will be a whole lot more choice in this area relatively soon.

You’ll get to check off boxes. Male, blue eyes, blond hair, good eyesight, athletic ability, prefers the company of women. The future will be all kinds of weird.

  6. I still don't see how they would be unable to exist or thrive. (1 Reply)

Explain why 0 is the only amount of taxation that a university can sustain.

  7. Is there a list? (0 Replies)

Show me any other elected official in this state that collected un-used vacation time.

The Herald has a database of Boston employees that took advantage of buybacks. Is there another database online someplace?

  8. Just to add to what I said. (0 Replies)

Let’s say she has no legal right to the money. How many other people are there that also have no legal right to money that they were nonetheless given as part of this standard operation? If it is illicit gains then let’s claw as much of it back as possible.

  9. Have others in fact done it? (0 Replies)

Can we look up the info on another sheriff who left office?

I have a hard time believing that her sheriff’s department invented this on their own and just for her. It must have come from somewhere. Either it’s been the common practice in her dept for a while or enough other depts that her dept thought it was the standard.

  10. Standard operating procedure? (1 Reply)

This is from the Herald article:
    http://bostonherald.com/news_opinion/local_politics/2013/03/ex_sheriff_andrea_cabral_s_12g_in_vacation_payout_questioned

“The five weeks is what someone would earn for that seniority,” he said. “Essentially, we did what we thought was standard operation. It wasn’t asked for. It’s what we understood to be the standard operation in general.”

Is it accurate that this is a standard operation? Have others with constitutional offices done this?

  11. I don't understand how taxing these orgs means they would cease to exist. (1 Reply)

They would pay for taxes the same as they pay for any other cost associated with running their organization. As someone else below mentioned, they don’t necessarily have to pay the same as everyone else. Make it 25%. At least it’s something, and something is better than nothing.

  12. Let's tax non-profits and religious organizations. (2 Replies)

What’s the reason for exempting any organization from the price we pay for a civilized society?

  13. Who is and who is not marching in the St. Patrick's Day Parade? (3 Replies)

And which parade, the 1st or 2nd?

    Markey?
    Lynch?
    Winslow?
    Gomez?
    Sullivan?

  14. I had no idea there was a separate second parade. (1 Reply)

I’ve also thought that if they allow Scoutroopers, why not anyone else? But are the Scoutoopers actually part of the 2nd parade and not the official parade?
