It feels so underimagined that tens of millions of people will die because politicians were satisfied with the pace of decarbonization (we switched from dirty coal to dirty natural gas but have no plan for beyond that everything’s fine).

Suffering kids, but no cool sci-fi story.

Why does @SpeakerDeLeo pay so much less attention to the climate crisis than politicians here in Europe? At first I thought it was the time difference: we’re six hours closer to emissions deadlines. But his constituents demand urgent action.

So perhaps it’s the fossil fuel money

Dems tend to negotiate by meeting halfway. That’s a mistake when the other side keeps running away.

Keep them from running away — by destroying them in elections when they do.

This isn’t hard.

Joe Biden’s “really worried” that Dems might win too many seats, and tells voters to “stay a Republican” because he thinks “we need” the GOP. https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/nidhiprakash/joe-biden-hunter-biden-questions?bftwnews&utm_term=4ldqpgc#4ldqpgc

State Rep. Mike Connolly, a Cambridge Democrat, said conversation around free public transit has been sparked in the context of a recent MBTA fare hike. “It’s a daily crisis for people who have to rely on the MBTA. From my perspective, it’s an emergency.” https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2019/12/07/people-are-boiling-over-with-frustration/bCQ4QxbW106mMXSDdW1m4M/story.html
