He has had power breakfasts with several key Iowa Republicans. Iowans must be courted, early and often. The Iowa caucus is a key event, kicking off the primary season. Then came the Republican Convention in New York last summer. Romney spoke in one of the prime-time slots. That tells much about the muscle and respect he’s already won,” Herbert says.

Why can a conservative columnist so glibly mention “pro-lifer” in reference to prospective presidential candidate as a positive attribute when the majority of Americans would not want Roe v.
