I recently received a fundraising letter from Jill Stein’s campaign that included what I thought was a newsworthy detail that Pat Keaney who has twice been Felix Arroyo’s campaign manager for Boston City Council has joined Stein’s campaign. He will be directing the petition drive to get Jill on the ballot and will be working with Rainbow Coalition founder Mel King to train the new community organizer Toure’ Eskew.

Isn’t Keaney Jon Bonifaz’s signature coordinator?

He’s still listed on the website. Now, I like Jon and I like Jill Stein; but this seems more than a wee bit odd. Should Jon win the democratic nomination, he would face Stein in the general. How can you share campaign staff?

We deserve an explaination of what appears to be a direct conflcit of interest.

What possible explaination could there be?

This is kindof outrageous in my opinion.

Pat Keaney was indeed the coordinator of the signature drive for John Bonifaz’s campaign, and did a great job. He left the campaign when the signature drive was over, and it was an oversight to keep him listed on the web site, which has now been corrected.

Stephanie Sanchez (two time Democratic nominee for Congress against Chris Shays in CT) remains with the campaign, and we’ve also added Democratic consultant Jim Spencer.

It would be odd to Dems if Pat was a Dem helping Green-Rainbows, but that just isn’t the case. Pat Keaney, who at one point was an officer in the GRP, regularly helps key progressive Dems, but at the end of the day, he’s a GR. So I don’t find it unusual that he’s with Stein- in fact, I’m verrrry happy he’s helping us!
