Mass. GOP once again throws in the towel on down-ballot races

June 25, 2006 By David

Well, not exactly.  But here’s today’s Herald:

The state GOP is giving its candidates a secret weapon in their quest to win elections this fall: Peter Blute.  The state Republican Party has hired Blute, the former U.S. congressman and Massport chief, as an adviser to candidates vying for local and statewide seats in November’s election. Blute was forced out of the Massport gig in 1999 a day after pictures surfaced of him and a breast-baring reveler, nicknamed Gidget, on a party boat.

Let’s just refresh our recollection, shall we, as to exactly what drove Blute out of Massport:

Look, does the GOP want to actually compete in anything other than the Governor’s race, or is it just trying to generate off-color jokes on area blogs?  It’s certainly doing well with the latter.

By the way, you can see the non-work-safe version of that famous photograph here.  Don’t ask me how they got it!

Every campaign needs a theme song.  Now Massachusetts Republicans have one, and its here.
