[cue music] This is a BMG News Special Report [music slowly fades…]
Blue Mass. Group has learned that Democratic Lt. Gov. candidate Tim Murray will start running TV ads later this week, pending availability this Wednesday. According to Scott Ferson, spokesman for the Murray campaign, Murray’s fundraising has been stronger than anticipated, which has allowed the campaign to begin airing ads earlier than they had originally planned. Ferson says that the campaign has raised over $100,000 in August, its second-best month since joining the LG race.
Murray becomes the second LG candidate to run TV ads (Deb Goldberg’s campaign’s first ad started running ten days ago). In addition to the TV ads running this week, Murray plans to run radio ads starting this weekend, and the campaign’s full ad buy will begin next Tuesday, according to Ferson.
No word yet on when Andrea Silbert’s campaign will hit the airwaves, though with $500,000 in the bank it’s hard to imagine she’ll stay mum for much longer.
This has been a BMG News special report. We now return you to your regularly scheduled blogging.
UPDATE: Ferson posts in the comments that Murray’s TV ads will begin running tomorrow (Wednesday), and that they should be on the website by tonight.

I am not sure why this is “breaking news.” When did you think he’d go up? I trust when you get word from Silbert’s campaign, a similar post will run.

And radio ads? Hmmm…
david says
Honest to God, hoss. It’s “news” because no one else has reported it yet. I didn’t know when he’d go up. Now I know, and so do you. If Silbert cares to announce similar news through BMG, we’ll be pleased to run it.
hoss says
Never…

Not bad for the guy who is not a millionare, someone who has taken in more then 3,500 contributions from individuals. I am sure the Goldy camp will not be waiting to see how effective Tim’s ADs will be. It great news that a real middle class person can get up prior to Labor day. A campaign like this is all but laying the foundation, with a grass root campaign that Murray has formed this piece is sure to get his name across the state. Murray has been to just about every corner of this state and everything in between, and the puzzle is about to be finished real soon.

Go Murray !!

I assume this means they want to run ads this week, but there might not be any tv slots available for purchase. So the Breaking News headline could just as easily have been: “Tim Murray may start running TV ads this week… but he might not… stay tuned until next Tuesday… when his original buy begins”.

I look forward to seeing the spot and wish their campaign well. But I fear BMG may have been duped into promoting this a little early. If Ferson really wanted to give you some Breaking News, he would’ve sent you the ad to post!

At least we Tim’s ADs will not have people from another town talking about the great things he did like Deb did. Why won’t someone from her came explain why she has a the Boston Firefighter union leader commenting on the increase in firefighters she accomplished in her home twon of Brooklin. Why isn’t it a Brooklin firefighter doing the talking?? It’s a shame that no one wants to talk about the real facts. The truth is it never happened. Go Murray !
stomv says
is that my home town is spelled “Brookline.” Once is a typo. Twice… maybe.
highhopes says
How come the Goldberg Camp refuses to answer why she has a Boton Firefighter union member talking about increasing firefighters in Brookline? Let’s wake up, the reason is simple, it never happened! Strike 2 for Goldy, the convention was strike 1. One more and she will be gone, die hard D’s will not elected a misleading official. Especially one who has no real life experience.
david says
Sure you do! đŸ˜‰
slushpuppy says
but Silbert got in this race early and won me over with her energy, background and thoughts re jobs and government. The more I learned about her, the more impressed I was.

Murray is an all around smart, good guy who has loyally supported Democrats. He’s done a great job with Worcester and has shown an ability to work with electeds. He’d be a good liaison with municipal officials, but I think we need someone with a bolder approach than that.

That’s why I’m sticking with Silbert.

spots secured, ads start tomorrow (Wednesday). We will post them on the campaing site today, or tonight, and they will be available to view. When David posted last night, they had not been finally edited.
