After reading the blue mass group for some time I had to express what the average person sees as reality of AG Reilly.
For the AG to go on TV and proclaim to be for the average person is appalling.
The AG’s office in a suit to help “stuck kids” continue after four years to file legal briefs in delay of services by assistant state attorney general Deirdre Roney, as those children anguish in mental hospitals. In July 2005, the Governors Commission on Mental Health issued a report calling for childrens mental health services to be fully incorporated into the states health care equation, with routine screenings. Yet the AG’s Office drags it feet.
Attorney Wendy Murphy filed a $12.5 million lawsuit against the state, for the biological mother of Haleigh Poutre. Stating the mother was coerced into giving the girl up for adoption and now is deprived of her companionship.
The lawsuit states that Department of Social Services Commissioner Lewis H. Spence and employees violated Allison Avrett’s civil rights by coercing her to give up Haleigh.
A Leominster Mom, Mary Jean has an outrageous case in which a State Police unit controlled by Reillys friend Worcester John Conte was inadvertently videotaped by a nanny cam, no a question, the search is for all to see, conducting an illegal search in direct violation of the 4th amendment. Mom Jean faced felony charges for posting the video. Reilly has not addressed the actions by the State Police
Reilly this week was exposed in a brief of Plaintiff response for making disingenuous position to the US Court of Appeals, which states nothing in logic or law represents points made by assistant state attorney general Ronald Kehoe. The cost to the tax payers in this case is monstrous.
The real question is what average person does AG Reilly really represents. This continued political theme appears very questionable. The reality is Reilly is the same political patronage we have seen on Beacon Hill.
He protects his friends like in the Southborough drunk driving case of the Murphy sisters, who were political donors. Protects the State police believing their endorsement in the gubernatorial will lead to his election never mind, Sgt. Brian W. O’Hare of the state police exposed by the FBI, not the AGs office on the internet seeking sex with a young boys, even though Reilly takes credit for staunch internet security for children.
Reilly Reality keeps Massachusetts in the same dysfunction we have seen for years. Actual legal actions portray Reilly as more the problem than the solution for the average person.

Let’s look at your cases:

What a great illustration of why it is so hard for an attorney general to run for executive office. A big part of the AG’s job is to defend the state and prosecute criminals. So if you do your job defending the state when the state’s case is unpopular, it’s your fault. If you do your job chasing criminals but miss one, it’s your fault. If someone screws up somewhere in state government, it’s….Reilly’s fault.

But no, this is not how the “average person” sees Reilly. I think most voters value strong decisions that affect millions, not five isolated cases. I think most voters see someone who put the people of the commonwealth above the fortunes of Harvard Pilgrim, Microsoft, and big tobacco. They see a man who stands alone in the Massachusetts Democratic primary in respecting the integrity of the referendum ballot. They see the only Democrat who doesn’t live in a mansion.

And accurately, they see a man who isn’t a smooth talker and who doesn’t give pretty speeches. They see someone who actually has a day job and can’t spend all his time hustling to every pumpkin-pie contest in Massachusetts. In other words, they see a great policymaker and a poor politician. Sadly, right now, it’s more important to be a good politician.
