Apparently, Ann Coulter is backing Hillary Clinton over John McCain. I'm not sure how to interpret this. Please note that I'm not trying to hang Coulter around Clinton's neck; I'm sure the Senator from New York finds Coulter as repugnant as I do, and if the story gets much traction will publicly reject the endorsement.
But I can't figure out Coulter's angle here. Is she, knowing how toxic her name is among Democrats, trying to sink Clinton (perhaps believing Obama easier to defeat in the general)? Has she gone so far 'round the bend that she really believes this “McCain's not a conservative” nonsense? Or is she just, fearing that she can't provoke the kind of firestorm of outrage she used to be able to, desperately grasping for attention?
I mean, I hate to give someone like Coulter any kind of attention or credence, and normally I'd think the only sensible course of action is to ignore her, but here I'm just baffled. What on earth is she after with this?

why anyone should care what Coulter does or doesn’t think? All she wants is attention. Ignore her. Maybe she’ll go away, like maybe to the mental instution where she belongs.

Maybe it’s a fake out, or a double fakeout. Why does Bill Bennett love Obama, and Coulter back Clinton? Better question, why are we dancing to their tune? I don’t care about watery “strategic” moves by hysterical columnists who hurt their own movement. I figure just vote for the single best nominee, because either one is a favorite to win in November.

p>What I’m currently trying to figure out is the Maine caucus system. From the Bangor News this is a partial list of Republican caucus locations:

p>Geez, I thought the Iowa and Nevada caucuses were bad. Make that an insult to democracy. But at least they were held simultaneously. Maine not only has them at different times during the day, but different days. Why not just give a blindfolded monkey a dart at this rate?
