Barack Obama’s First Opportunity to be a Uniter

May 8, 2008 By theopensociety

If you get the nomination, ask Hillary Clinton to be your Vice President.  After all, your supporters keep telling her to get out of the race because it is breaking the Democratic party apart.  Here is an opportunity for you to show how much of a uniter you really are.  I know a lot of Hillary Clinton supporters would welcome you as the vice presidential candidate if she gets the nomination.  I have to believe Obama supporters, who supposedly support you in part because you claim to be a uniter, would welcome this as a way to make us whole again.

…would she accept it?  I think either of them would rather stay in the Senate than play 2nd fiddle, but it sure would be interesting if they were a ticket.

I mean, sure it’s important, but the more important thing is that it be known that the hand of friendship and unity was extended.

      <

p>I’d readily agree, though, that the loser could accomplish more and would probably prefer to stay in the Senate than accept an office that, to paraphrase Nance Garner, is hardly worth a bucket of warm spit.

His message of “new politics” would be all but lost if he adopted Hillary and the “old politics” into his administration.
People would criticize him as being an empty suit for “The Clintons” Although it would be false, when has that stopped the critics.

“New politics” I thought was about more than taking out revenge against those who opposed you.  I’m starting to see little difference between “new politics” and “young Turks”.

And he failed to be a uniter when he took his first shot.

      <

p>Now he gets a second with a VP pick.

      <

      p>He probably won’t get a third.

Funny the double standard. Well it is actually pathetic.

        <

p>Had Obama stayed “Mr. Nice Guy” it would have been; “Oh no! He won’t fight back. It’s Kerry 2.0.”

        <

p>Now we hear; “Wow, what happened to “Mr. Nice Guy”, new politics. Obama’s just like Hillary.”

        <

        p>Sabby,
When you talk out both sides of your mouth, you get spit all over everything.

It’s not me talking out of both sides of the mouth.  I’m just pointing out when your side does it.

As David Ismay famously said, the goal is to “break their will” and “turn the screws on” ordinary people. The ordinary people as the “person across the street” and the “senior on fixed income.”

The #HousingCrisis & the #ClimateCrisis must be addressed together. We can no longer let our communities, particularly black & brown communities, be displaced by speculative investors buying up properties & jacking up rent.

We could improve our solar + farming (agrivoltaics) program and IX situation :) so we can actually get MWs in the ground while keeping farmers farming for another generation. #mapoli 1000MW+ of solar in the SMART program stalled in MA.

An alarming new report on climate change raises a difficult question for Massachusetts, already ahead of most states on climate policy. Is it even possible to move faster? https://trib.al/qHy7zwc

“What if I told you… this wasn’t a question of how liberal we are? 🙄 Or that what happens to literally five one-hundred-thousandths of a percent of the Earth’s surface area…. won’t matter for the planet’s mean surface temperature at all? #mapoli

Sabrina Shankman @shankman

On Monday, UN Sec-Gen. @antonioguterres said that in response to the dire IPCC report, developed nations should aim for net-zero by 2040. That's 10 years before MA's goal, so we asked the question: In liberal MA, is it even possible to move faster?
