I was born and raised in Leominster and have been an active volunteer in the community here for the past two decades. I served on the Leominster City Council – where I chaired the Finance Committee – have been an advocate and successful fundraiser for the Leominster Public Library for the last 15 years, and helped found the Notown Citizens Action Committee – to protect our drinking water supply – and the Leominster Land Trust. I also serve on the board of Our Father’s House, which provides housing and services for homeless men, woman and families, and have coached youth soccer in the city. Over the last 20 years I have been a business and production manager with the WGBH Educational Foundation.
I am running to continue Rep. Flanagan’s tradition of responsive, effective leadership for the city of Leominster. I strongly believe that with my diverse background, initiative and experience in a variety of aspects of our community I can get the results in Boston that will make a difference in Leominster. My philosophy is that public service isn’t always about politics – for example, we recently suspended a regular weekend canvass to run a canned food drive during Leominster’s annual Downtown Summer Stroll to benefit Ginny’s Helping Hand.
We’re running an aggressive grass-roots campaign here in Leominster, but we need your help. If you are a resident of our city or live nearby and would like to help out, please get in touch through my website, www.SueChalifouxZephir.com. You can also stop by our campaign headquarters at 3 Water Street in downtown Leominster; we’re there from 10-12 and 3-6 Tuesdays-Wednesdays, and 4-7pm on Thursdays. I will try to post here when I’m able to keep you up to date about what we have going on on the campaign trail.
Thank you very much and I hope you’ll email me at suechalifouxzephir@verizon.net if you’d like to help out or have a question for me!
