He’s also made this a challenge to the rest of us to contribute. (“Mom can I have a couple of mill? Please? Jeanne needs a little love up in New Hampshire”)
We have a chance to get a filibuster-proof majority at 60 (add another one or two so we can kick LIEberman’s butt out). Think of the change we can bring then.
I’ll tip my hat to John. He didn’t need it here, for sure.
Please share widely!

So Kerry can take even more time off? I refer you to the 2004 bill to extend unemployment benefits. It lost by Kerry’s vote. He was too busy running for president. His opponent John Edwards made it back to DC to vote. Any working person to vote for him is a fool. Any labor union to eddorse him must be corrupt. Jeff Beatty for US Senate. How about the $100,000+ Herry received from Fannie and Freddie.? Was he doing Fannie while Barney Frank was in bed with Freddie? Barney bedding Freddie is courtesy of Peter Blute. From his radio show on 830 AM from 6-10 in the morning. It bears repeating: Jeff Beatty for uUS Senate!

p>The fact of the matter, well discussed in the media was that Frist played games on things like this – there were times Kerry returned to DC for votes – just to find them postponed at the last minute. This was a setup where they intentionally made it fail by 2 votes – had Kerry and Edwards been there, 1 or 2 republicans would have shifted.
<
p>Every Senator running for office misses a huge number of votes. Look at Obama, McCain, and Biden now.
karenc says
you are repeating a constantly cited Republican talking point by saying that Barack Obama and John Kerry, along with Chris Dodd have received the most money from Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. This is extremely misleading because it is intended to imply the money is from the company.
<
p>In addition to PAC money, individual contributions to political campaigns by people who work for these companies are included in those totals. When you donate money, you have to identify the company you work for and your contribution is aggregated with others from your company. The report on the open secrets.org website, shows that the vast majority of money going to Kerry and Obama was from individual contributions. Only $2000 and $6000 respectively was from the PAC. They are among the highest on the list because of their Presidential campaigns. The Republicans raised far less money this year and President Bush was obviously not on the list of Senators.
<
p>Here is a link to the open secrets report that shows individual vs PAC contributions. http://www.opensecrets.org/new…
<
p>In addition, Kerry had a plank in the 2004 Democratic platform that called for more regulation of both the mortgage and credit card industries to stop abuses. http://query.nytimes.com/gst/f…

a top fund raiser for Bush. http://www.washingtonpost.com/…
<
p>He did raise money for some Democrats as well, but even though John Kerry is on the Finance committee and was on the Banking committee in the 1990s, he did not ever get a contribution from AIG – http://www.newsmeat.com/fec/by…
His only connection is that he or his wife has some stock – which lost money.

majority of them, if not all of them. They know what Kerry’s record has been for the last 23 years and they endorsed him long ago in this race.
<
p>As to Jeff Beatty, his low level of support is shrinking. In the most recent poll Kerry had 65% and Beatty 29% – and that is before most of the people saying Beatty know anything about him – his numbers against Delahunt did not improve in 2006. Hey, his numbers may decline when people learn he is not from MA and was a Yankees fan until moving here in 2006. Rather funny that he makes a point of speaking of enjoying Patriot, Celtics, and Red Sox games on his web site.
<
p>If you left Massachusetts would you desert the Red Sox as quickly as he deserted the team he followed in his youth.
noisy-democrat says
Senator Kerry has been determined to help build a Democratic majority in Congress, and in 2006 he did more than any other senator to work for Democratic victories. As Rahm Emmanuel said at the time, “Give me six more John Kerrys.” I’m glad that Senator Kerry has kept his eye on that goal and keeps working to build a stronger Democratic majority. As he keeps explaining, these days it takes 60 votes to get anything past the Roadblock Republicans, but if we can get to 60 and get Obama in the White House, a lot can get done.

I doubt you want a serious answer, but it would in fact be illegal to give $1 million out of his personal assets – and in fact, he has several million dollars of his own assets. It is coming either out of his Senate campaign fund or his leadership PAC.
sabutai says
Would have been more useful a month earlier, but a lot of good work can still be done with that cash. Nice to see Kerry step up.
karenc says
In some cases, raising money for the Democrat who got the nomination against potentially vulnerable Roadblock Republicans. This should be good for the needed GOTV in close races.
