Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts Statement on the Death of United States Senator Edward M. Kennedy
BOSTON – Robert B. McCarthy, President of the Professional Fire fighters of Massachusetts, has released the following statement on the passing of United States Senator Edward M. Kennedy:
“Today the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts mourn the loss of US Senator Ted Kennedy. Senator Kennedy was a tireless advocate for fire fighters, and was an honorary member of the PFFM. He was one of us, never afraid to stand up for what he believed in. For more than five decades he was a champion for fire fighters and all union workers on the floor of the United States Senate as we faced legislative battles on healthcare, fire training and equipment, and collective bargaining to name just a few.
As the Kennedy family and nation take time to mourn and celebrate his life, the 12,000 members of the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts will always remember Senator Kennedy’s commitment to our causes, and our prayers go out to Vicki and the entire Kennedy family during this difficult time.”
The Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts represent more than 12,000 professional fire fighters from across the Commonwealth. For more information, visit www.pffm.org.
