Kenneally is incredibly Boston — Irish Catholic of five with cop and firefighter siblings, and a public-school nurse mom. It remains to be seen whether being yet another white guy up against one woman and four guys of color will make an difference. He has the most experience on Council, working for ex-member Maura Hennigan and current one Michael Flaherty, but none of the non-incumbents has actually served as an elected Boston Councilor.
He jumped into everything we threw at him. He detailed short-term and longer goals, dealing both with the particulars as well as the underlying concepts. That includes restarting downtown development because everything flows from economics here. He cares a lot about education and doesn't see charter schools as a panacea (saying they could be smoke and mirrors).
We've put out a pitch to have Pressley get equal time. When they pick a date and time, we'll post the show here as well.
