RFK son Max Kennedy to Endorse Khazei

October 7, 2009 By throbbingpatriot

Perhaps more consequential:

Kennedy and his wife are flying out tonight, and plan to make a formal endorsement Thursday before launching four days of campaigning with Khazei across the state.

While I start with a predisposed interest in outside-the-box candidates for Senate, I’ve got to give Khazei credit for making his run surprisingly interesting thus far.

He’s got Sheriff Cabral, Smitty Pignatelli from western Mass, the respected Harris Wofford and now a Kennedy lending him support. Not who I would have expected these people to endorse in this race.

Does this support matter? Please share your thoughts…

any time a non-trad candidate can get “free” news cycles, it helps him become perceived as a traditional candidate.  It likely won’t do much more than that, but score a few victories like this in a row, and suddenly Khazei may find news coverage parity with Capuano and Coakley.

I thought Khazei was the progressive and edgy outsider, so far it seems like he is the one being anointed by the Kennedy family and surrounding himself with conventional politicians. No more ‘politics as usual’ my foot!

your tendency to question the motives and integrity of anyone who is not your candidate, or who is not supporting your candidate, gets a bit tiresome at times.

BMG just gives him a venue.  Oh wait, you’re right.

are very fair in allowing all kinds of people/opinions on the site. And I thought that you came across very well on the radio show last week as a very tolerant, forgiving guy.

his battle for name recognition has come to an end. But even more important is his name is now tied to the Kennedy family.
The thing about the Kennedy family is that they don’t always fall in line behind each other.  There may be others who endorse a different candidate. If they all endorse Khazei, he has a much greater chance of winning this primary.

Max ain’t exactly a top-line “get”, and I’ve seen more empathic endorsement from more significant figures pushing Capuano.

though Khazei might reconsider Max’s offer to campaign if someone reminds him of Max’s pretty disastrous run for the 9th CD seat after Moakley died.

p>Also, it’s not the first Kennedy family endorsement.  Steve Smith, son of Ambassador Jean Kennedy Smith endorsed Capuano in the Herald last week.  Story is here.
