As everyone here is undoubtedly aware, we're in the final stretch of the race to elect Dr. Smulowitz. We need all hands on deck to contact voters, turn out the vote, and win back Scott Brown's former seat on Tuesday over the next four days.
Democrats and progressives of all ages are invited to join YDM's efforts between now and election day…
In four days we will find out if Scott Brown's former State Senate seat will finally go blue with a victory for Dr. Smulowitz, the young Democrat in the race. Or if we'll have yet another term of status quo with another out of touch Republican. So, we have four days to knock doors, call voters and GOTV to show the Commonwealth and the country that Massachusetts Democrats are stronger and more fired up than ever.
Here's how you can help us elect a great young Democrat to Scott Brown's old seat:
- Sunday 5/9: Take a roadtrip with us to talk with voters as we canvass in the district! We're meeting at the Massachusetts Democratic Party HQ at 11:00 AM (RSVP & get details on Facebook).
- Monday 5/10: Come work the phones with us at the Massachusetts Democratic Party HQ from 5:30-8:30 PM (RSVP & get details on Facebook).
- Tuesday 5/11: Election Day! We'll have opportunities to make calls from across Massachusetts, as well as to GOTV in the district (RSVP for the Election Day event so we can get you more details)
- Not near Boston? Sign-up to volunteer with the campaign to get info on using the predictive dialer from the convenience of your home.
We're up against a lot with Republicans and special interests flooding the district, but we can win. As Dr. Smulowitz wrote on Blue Mass Group “Scott Brown and conservative special interest groups are pouring resources into the district, but they are no match for our phenomenal grassroots volunteer base.” Please visit our Fan Page to sign up for one of our volunteer events.
Like I mentioned last week, the Board of Young Democrats of Massachusetts voted unanimously to endorse Dr. Smulowitz and support his campaign with at least 50 volunteer hours to help contact voters, as well as at least a $100 PAC contribution, and we've heard the race is close enough where volunteer hours from members like you and me can make the difference.
YDM endorsed Dr. Smulowitz based on his commitment to supporting quality education, creating 21st century jobs, and making healthcare more affordable for students and working people in Massachusetts. We're excited to have the opportunity for Young Democrats to help elect a fellow Young Democrat who can make a big difference on Beacon Hill – I hope you'll be part of it!
See you on the campaign trail!
Democratically,
MelissaPS: In addition to helping push Dr. Smulowitz to victory, YDM will be out doing good at Cradles to Crayons in Boston on Saturday; I hope you'll join us for that in addition to helping turn Scott Brown's seat blue!
