Cape Cod Times: “Perry lied about covering up for Serial Child Molester.”

June 8, 2010 By cape-cod-democrat

Since Saturday, 4th Barnstable District State Rep. Jeff Perry's hometown newspaper, the Cape Cod Times has followed up on the recent story involving Rep. Jeff Perry's role in protecting and covering up on multiple occasions for his buddy the serial child molester Scott Flanagan while serving as a Sergeant in the Wareham Police Department.  After being stonewalled by the Wareham Police Department after requesting court documents involving the sexual assaults and Perry this past April, the Wareham Police Department finally gave into their request after another major newspaper requested the same info.  The information that was made public only pertains to the case involving a 16 year old child.

Cape Cod Reporter George Brennan now states that Perry did lie about his involvement by showing that Perry's recent statements contradict the original court documents and witness statements of the victims.

    His primary opponent:

Within weeks of [State Treasurer Joseph D.] Malone’s departure from office in 1999, it was discovered that several of his top aides and associates had manipulated systems within the office of the state treasurer for seven years, stealing $9.4 million through various schemes. It is the biggest theft of state funds in Massachusetts history and muddied Malone’s image as a champion of clean politics and good government, which had helped sweep him into the treasurer’s office in 1990.

    Boston Globe

We will note, that Mr. Malone, like Mr. Perry, appears to have a misplaced loyalty problem:

One damaging issue involves reports that surfaced during the inquiry that Malone, while still treasurer, had overruled a decision by his top aide, Thomas H. Trimarco, to fire Deputy Treasurer Robert E. Foley for insubordination. Foley later emerged as one of the key conspirators in the case and was sent to prison for stealing $2.4 million from a fund under his control.

Malone sanctimoniously tells us that he takes “full responsibility” whatever that means. It apparently doesn’t mean admitting mistakes, learning lessons, resolving to do things differently, making amends, or any of the other things one might associate with “taking full responsibility”.

I don’t like him, but who knows what Cape Cod Democrat, or his/her next door neighbor Cape Code Republican, will find.

From Mr. Kasperowicz’s site we learn:

        1. He is an absurd deficit hawk: “Our government needs to start spending less or, like Greece, our creditors will start making those decisions for us.” There are a number of things different about Greece. (Greece doesn’t control its currency. Investors in U.S. debt still believe it will be repaid given the low rates. The Insolvency Party does not control the U.S. Congress, yet, but it has in Greece.)
        2. He also absurdly believes that passing a Health Care bill will harm the economy.
        3. He “cleverly” mislabels Cap and Trade “Cap and Tax”. Very clever! However, one might think a guy aiming to represent a coastal area might be a tad concerned about climate change’s effect on the sea level. Does he have an alternative?
        4. His national security page reveals him unprepared for national responsibilities. Example: He thinks 2nd Amendment rights are part of national security. Really? (Well, the talking point had to go somewhere and it was late and all that foreign stuff was too confusing and he wanted a third bullet point …)

..is this an indirect way of saying your writing off Perry as a winner in November?  You were defending him a week or so ago when the Globe did their first story…still think its only smoke?

Still think Perry is an innocent Boy Scout in this whole thing?

Do you know what causes things like the Rodney King/ Reginald Denny incident?

    <

p>Law enforcement that is UTTERLY BRUTAL, so OVER THE TOP, that the people become enraged and start riots.

    <

p>The riots are uncontrolled, often hurting the wrong target, such as Korean merchants and Reginald Denny, instead of the perpetrators. And these riots create hundreds of times more disorder that the original incident ever could.

    <

p>It is good that there were no Wareham riots over these incidents. There may have been no riots because there were no ethnic issues involved and those in power have contempt for the young and powerless.

    <

p>Well, now we know that Perry IS willing to “burn down the town” for a bad cause or a stupid policy.

    <

p>For bad policy, he will “let it rip,” and will not be restrained by concerns for keeping some semblance of order.

What is so OVER THE TOP is your comment.

Perry is the only person in government I know of in this state who does not support the industry/government consortium of wage suppression via immigrant subsidies.
