Last week, our campaign was humbled and honored to earn the support and endorsement of former State Senator Jarrett Barrios. I’ll post more on this later, but I wanted you to hear what he had to say about this campaign for state senate – and about progressive politics here in Massachusetts.
Please share widely!

Talking to my boys in Everett Chelsea, Somerville and Charlestown and the agreement is nobody has seen you working. WTF Timmy? Cambridge is not going to carry you.

The entire political establishment is getting behind DiDomenico. This started as an uphill race for Sal.
<
p>But DiDomenico is solidly in the lead right now for several reasons:
<
p>1. DiDomenico was in fact pretty effective as a Senator. With just a few hours to spare after being sworn in he was able to get 2 budget amendments worth $3m put into the budget, both of which eventually passed.
<
p>2. A bulk of the political establishment is now behind DiDomenico even in Cambridge. He’s got a very large number of progressive endorsements.
<
p>3. There is a perception of Flaherty as being a “sore loser” with the demand for a recount (Sorry Tim, I’m not saying you are. But the way it was handled gave people that impression)
<
p>4. The Flaherty campaign seemed dormant for awhile after the election. Flaherty has practically been running for this seat non-stop for at least two cycles, so I can understand the need for a break. But it gave DiDomenico some breathing room which he capitalized on.
<
p>Maybe a month ago I was hearing this was essentially a lock for DiDomenico. I’ve heard a few people in the last few days say the race is tightening. But no doubt its an uphill battle for Flaherty right now.

The endorsement of former Senator Jarrett Barrios is a strong indication that Tim Flaherty’s campaign is strong and growing. Tim’s campaign has reminded me of Jarrett’s
of 2002, 2004 and 2006 in how he has been able to bring so many different people from the entire district together. Tim has worked hard in reaching everyone in the eight communities involved in this district. Senator Barrios represented the people of this district with honesty and a tremendous work ethic. The former Senator also had a vision and leadership skills that could unite and move our district forward and Tim Flaherty has those same skills. As a supporter of Tim and a friend of both I am very excited about this endorsement.

p>Respectfully yours, Paul Nowicki former Chelsea city council President and runner-up Senate candidate 2007.
