In the Senate, there are currently 27 pro-choice seats – the vast majority of which (21) are contested. Our Protect and Elect Campaign is already in full swing to safeguard our strong pro-choice margin there. And with an historic eight open Senate seats, we have a chance to elect pro-choice candidates to a handful of former anti-choice or mixed-choice seats.
On the House side, 95 of the 160 seats are held by pro-choice legislators – and 55 of these are in play. So NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts and our allies are working hard to maintain our pro-choice majority in the lower chamber, too.
Voters deserve to know who’s pro-choice and who’s not so that they can cast a vote that reflects the values they share with the vast majority in the Commonwealth. We are very excited to see so many new pro-choice candidates running this year along with the pro-choice incumbents who are up for reelection.
NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts is committed to electing pro-choice politicians across the state. In addition to informing our 20,000 members about what’s at stake in the elections, we provide direct assistance to candidates, mobilize our pro-choice grassroots base in targeted districts, train candidates and volunteers, and produce the only statewide pro-choice voters’ guide.

Why don’t you even list candidates running against your endorsees? Shouldn’t you just tell us who the pro-choice candidates are, rather than picking favorites? I remember the negative mailers you guys ran in Somerville in 2006 attacking Denise Provost on tax policy, even though she was just as pro-choice as Elizabeth Moroney. Shouldn’t your donors money be spent helping candidates with anti-choice opponents, rather than trying to keep progressives out of office?
