There is absolutely a double standard when it comes to personal and ethical scandals and how the media reports them. Democrats are often given a pass or promptly forgiven (need I mentioned [sic] Bill Clinton?) while Republicans either resign out of respect to the office or are driven from office from [sic] an unforgiving conservative political base. While unfair, such a double standard can give the GOP a real advantage, but only when we live up to the expectations of the voters and avoid personal and professional scandal.
