I just received, as I’m sure many of you did, an email from Mindy Myers of the Warren campaign. Apparently the campaign has heard that some voters in Massachusetts have gotten robocalls from Karl Rove’s Crossroads GPS. According to the email, the robocall “attacks Elizabeth and blatantly lies about President Obama’s health care reforms.”
The email also says the campaign has been told Grover Norquist’s Americans for Tax Reform has spent $200,000 on mailing sent to Massachusetts voters. The campaign, in addition to the usual request for funds to combat the GOP campaign, asks that people notify them about any such materials they encounter. I have not yet received any mailings of this sort or any robocalls, but I’ll keep an eye out.
No surprise at this point, but this just about completes Brown’s transition from the ostensibly nice guy, moderate, New England-style Republican of 2010 lore to full-blown Rove Republican. All it’s going to do is get me out campaigning against him even more.

Elizabeth Warren for something about the bailout. Not sure what it was exactly or whether it was the Brown campaign or Rove’s group, since I hung up halfway through the first sentence. But in another sign of cultural sensitivity by Senator Brown and/or his supporters, this call came when a lot of people observing Yom Kippur would be starting their holiday break fast. I’m quite aware that Yom Kippur isn’t observed as widely as Christmas, but I live in a suburb with 3 synagogues – even someone with a moderate level of awareness might have concluded it wasn’t the cleverest of times to be making automated attack calls.
