Koch Bros and Suffolk University

December 9, 2013 By gmoke

Suffolk University may have a Koch problem through a possible grant to Beacon Hill Institute (http://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/dec/05/host-university-research-group-climate-suffolk-university).

Forecast the Facts has a petition to Suffolk now:

Between the years of 2008 and 2012, the oil and gas billionaire Koch brothers donated over $784,560 to Suffolk University—an unknown amount of which has been allocated to the conservative Beacon Hill Institute (the exact amount is not specified because Suffolk will not disclose the itemization of these funds).

The university released the following statement in response to the debacle: “The stated research goals, as written, were inconsistent with Suffolk University’s mission.” It’s clear Suffolk is feeling the need to take action. If we act fast, we can encourage them to reject the Kochs’ money and maintain their integrity and independence.

You can sign the petition at
