Former President Jimmy Carter will turn 90 on Wednesday, October 1. In my opinion, possibly the best ex-president ever, I hope he has a great birthday.
He sucked as a president and sucks more as an ex-presient.

of what it means to embrace “Jesus Christ” as your personal saviour as you have suggested to me in the past, because if this is a demonstration of what it means, then I will simply remain an atheist and All Praise Science.

this is about accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
I doubt anyone on BMG would disagree with.
There is only One True Lord, Mike. REPENT!!!

You are kidding em, right? he did suck as a President. He may have said the things you liked to hear but his execution was juvenile.
As for his ex=presidency, a strong case has been made by many scholars that the guy is a lone wolf who imposes himself in International affairs far beyond what is acceptable for an ex-presudent and usually not in line with Democrat, Republican or US policies.
As Barney Fife would say, the guy’s a nut!
Billy and Miss Lily were cool though.

I know the etiquette and protocol authorities tell us there is only one President at a time and thus Carter or the others are simply Mr…. rather than President…. However, I’ve long thought it would sound more dignified if we adopted the habit of using President Emeritus/a.

We know you’d rather we had Dauphins and Earls and stuff, but we deliberately decided not to, some time ago. If you want to call ex-Presidents “Presidents Emeriti,” go right ahead. Maybe some other people will pick it up.
Carter was the closest thing to a genuinely honest and moral man we’ve had in the White House in my lifetime. To the extent that he failed to be the forceful, dynamic leader everyone wanted, it was because of those qualities. If we had taken his advice on energy policy, we could have avoided at least two wars and a lot of literal grief. Instead, we got that moron Reagan removing the solar panels from the WH roof, and a series of oil-company fanbois playing cowboy in the Middle East. Forty years on, Jimmy Carter looks really good in comparison to the bozos who followed him.
And Mr. Incredible is trolling us again.

They are a major reason his Presidency was not successful.
His ideas were good and some of them are still with us:
1. Deregulation
2. Low inflation (because he brought in Volcker).
3. Peace between Egypt & Israel.
He had other good initiatives in running the government itself.
But Congress fought him and Kennedy then weakened him by openly challenging him for the nomination.
